Friday Night Shooter Mystery

Postby Ragemore » Thu Jan 28, 2010 8:57 am

It sounds like maybe L4D2 has run it's course for Friday Night Shoot Outs. Any suggestions for what should take it's place?

Should we go back to an oldie but a goodie?

Should we look to an old game we never tried?

Find a beta?

Play a "Free to play"?

Buy something new?

What are your thoughts?

I'm open to suggestion.

I can probably swing a new game if L4D2 is off the table.

I'm still enjoying the hell out of it, but I understand if I'm in the minority. The hack issues seem to have gotten out of hand so if we don't have 8 people playing, we're likely to run into some ass who ruins the game.

I just worry that we'll run into that with whatever we play.

Well there is always TF2 or if you all still have it to load Battlefield 2142 ( get back into things if Bad Company 2 turns into the next big thing ) or some free ones are Quake Online or Battlefield Heros.

Or going real oldschool load up Unreal Tournament

Fileplanet got me into the Beta of Bad Company 2, We could give this one a try tonight, would be the first shooter in while we could all play on the same team.

The free shooter I liked was Combat Arms, and since I just bout Mass Effect 1 and 2, I'm leaning toward something we already have or is free, or is in beta.

I can get the key and download it, but I suspect it will play like ass.

Worth a try though. The game looks like a blast from what I've seen watching Trever play the beta on the 360.

Maybe it's my system.

The game is unplayable for me at the moment.

Tons of what seems to be network lag, but may be compounded by my system specs.

SOooooo long story short... BC2 is whoopass and its 2 months from release.

Favorite moment of the weekend...A house fell on me. I heard it starting to fall. The metal gave a definite creak as the structure started its collapse. Then it stopped.

For a split second I thought..."Cool. Back to the headshot business"

Then the dramatic tumble and required dust cloud occurred.

Nice directional and spacial sounds. Great climb on the guns firing. Shotguns suck, but who brings a shotgun to a machinegun fight anyway. Medics need a cooldown.

Snipers suck. Good snipers really suck.

One thing stands out to me about this game, how much fun I had in several rounds. It had enough good to overlook some of the bad, why no prone? (probably saves me from getting knifed more) I think I need to get a better machine to play it, I really need to get my key bindings in order, and they could fix a few things like lag, and friends list.

I realized something that Greasy said, was something I also thought at first, it reminded me of 2142 and Battlefield 2, a lot, but then what turned it into it's own fun game was the destructible terrain. Thats new for shooter for me, and I think every game from here on out must have it.

I plan to keep playing for the two months before release, and make a final judgement on purchase closer to release date.

You don't get 2 months.. you get until Feb 25th.. unless they move the date.
