I played Aion when it first came out. What a time sink! More like a black hole. Leveling was excruiatingly SLOW. I remember there being this inventory bag (like 8 additional slots, no biggie) that was a reward for completing a quest. Since you didn't get alot of inventory room it was a quest you wanted to complete. After reading up on it and seeing the drop rates on the items you needed to complete the quest(average time to complete was 3 to 4 weeks) I not only quit doing the quest, I quit playing the game. Of course if you wanted to BUY the bag at the in game store with RL money....well...life would be soooo much easier. Pffft!! I would rather play a premium game than soak 10 times as much money into a free-to-play game that's only playable if you're willing to spend loads of cash.
It certainly was a good looking game. Played smooth and had a few interesting twists to it. But there is no way I would play it. I have to say this game was by far the worst time-sink/blackhole/super blackhole game I have ever played.
I'm not sure if they reworked the loot ratios or the leveling ratios since then.
